Duncan Clauss // Owner & Manager
Duncan Clauss is a transplanted New Englander who followed his skiing addiction to the University of Colorado at Boulder. Having visited Aspen consistently on vacations with his family as well as throughout his time in Boulder, Duncan always had dreams of making this mountain town his home.
Learning about Flying Dog’s success in Aspen in the ‘90’s and their continued success in Denver, Duncan was further inspired to bring craft beer back to Aspen. In his limited free time, Duncan will most likely be outdoors playing in the snow or reveling in the Colorado sunshine!
Brad Veltman // Owner & Manager
Brad Veltman hails from the beer-rich city of San Diego, California. When he and Duncan met in Boulder, the common interest in craft beer was established, breweries were frequented, and home brewing began. With the completion of his business degree from University of Colorado, he moved to Aspen to make the Aspen Brewing Company a reality. Brad can be found snowboarding our 4 mountains in the winter and hiking the many trails in and around Aspen in the summer.
Rory Douthit // Owner & Manager
Rory Douthit initially became interested in the craft beer industry while living in London, England during a summer between years at Davidson College. In the years following, he explored the industry to further develop his appreciation and understanding of craft beer. After completing his history degree at Davidson College, Rory moved west to join the Aspen Brewing Company team. If he is not at the brewery, Rory can be found fly fishing the Roaring Fork River.
Terry Butler // Minister of Brewing
Terry Butler, Aspen Brewing Company’s head brewer, hails from the beer rich region of Eugene, Oregon. Terry has two passions in life, craft beer and his Harley Davidson. He has been working in the beer industry for thirteen years and has worked at four other successful craft breweries.
Terry won a bronze medal at the World Beer Cup in 2005 in the American Stout category, and a silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival for his robust porter. His favorite brews to make and drink are IPA’s, Pilsner’s and Porters. If he is not in the brewery, Terry will most likely be soaking up the beautiful Colorado landscape from the saddle of his Harley.
