Duncan Clauss // Owner & Manager
Duncan Clauss is a transplanted New Englander who followed his skiing addiction to the University of Colorado at Boulder. Having visited Aspen consistently on vacations with his family as well as throughout his time in Boulder, Duncan always had dreams of making this mountain town his home.
Learning about Flying Dog’s success in Aspen in the ‘90’s and their continued success in Denver, Duncan was further inspired to bring craft beer back to Aspen. In his limited free time, Duncan will most likely be outdoors playing in the snow or reveling in the Colorado sunshine!
Brad Veltman // Owner & Manager
Brad Veltman hails from the beer-rich city of San Diego, California. When he and Duncan met in Boulder, the common interest in craft beer was established, breweries were frequented, and home brewing began. With the completion of his business degree from University of Colorado, he moved to Aspen to make the Aspen Brewing Company a reality. Brad can be found snowboarding our 4 mountains in the winter and hiking the many trails in and around Aspen in the summer.
Chase Engel // Head Brewer
Chase Engel originally relocated to Colorado from Austin, Texas to attend Fort Lewis College in Durango. As a student, Chase discovered his passion and talent for brewing and began working for Ska Brewing Company in 2006. While at Ska Brewing Company, Chase’s dedication and hands-on approach allowed him to advance from a packaging assistant to Senior Brewer in three years. In 2010, Chase relocated to Boulder to work for Oskar Blues Brewing Company in Longmont, Colorado, to further develop his understanding of different brewing processes, lab and yeast management and quality control.
Chase and his fiancee Aly returned to the mountains in April, 2011 and now call Aspen home. If he’s not brewing Aspen Brewing Company’s latest and greatest beer, you can find him enjoying the mountains with their dog Sierra.
